Walk the Line

"What matters is to live in the present, live now for every moment is now. It is your thoughts and acts of the moment that create your future. The outline of your future path already exists, for you created its pattern by your past." - Sai Baba.
This video is supposed to represent the decisions we make in life and how every little choice we pick up along the way becomes a part of our final path no matter how small the decision. We create how and where our future will go with every decision we make so it is good to choose them wisely but always no matter what keep moving forward even when it seems like everything around you is backwards and confusing. As long as you keep striving for what you desire for yourself, you shall achieve. I chose the quote by Sai Baba because I felt it best fit for what I was trying to convey and also because following the teachings of Satya Sai Baba has been one of my personal life decisions and has aided me in finding my own path. This was a very personal piece for me and I'm glad I got to share it with all of you.

Water Drawings

I painted this right next to the bike I modeled it off of. I wonder if the owner of the bike saw it and recognized it as their bike. I hope so.

The All-Seeing Eye or the Eye of Providence. It is something that has so many different meanings that can be viewed differently by each individual. I watched as people passing by exclaimed different things mainly, "that's on our dollar!" It made me wonder if they knew any of the meaning behind it. It's been in books like the Illuminatus! science fiction trilogy, it's a symbol of the Freemasons, pretty much it's been all over. Pictured in Egyptian mythology and Buddhism, the Eye generally represents spiritual insight, inner vision, higher knowledge, and the occult science. I love that it can be thought of in so many ways and it was interesting seeing people's reactions.

My drawing was supposed to represent the meditation pose of Shiva but it can also be seen as Buddha. Full-Lotus is the pose most depicted when showing someone in meditation so I tried to paint that position in order to convey meditation instead of just sitting or it being mistaken for praying.

This one's a bit darker and for some reason it's still there on the wall, maybe the cup was dirty. I painted the main part of the head and then poured the rest of the cup down the side of the wall to give it that drip effect. It's something that's shown up in dreams and in my life that I'm not sure why I see it. I've researched it before and a black dog in legends is supposed to represent death or ill omen, but in one, the Black Shuck or black dog ghost, is a protector and guides women on their way home. Whatever the meaning, I think it's funny that I drew a potential death omen over an ashtray.

I painted this on a chalkboard while listening to a couple different Jimi Hendrix songs like Purple Haze and Voodoo Child. A lot of the subject is inspired by previous artistic work and a poster of him I have.

"FOUND"

When I was cleaning out my room, I found one of the CDs I used to listen to almost everyday, one that made me envision different scenarios everytime I listened to it. This time when listening to my favorite song, I started to form a story about a guy and a girl that met during a zombie apocalypse and even through all the trauma and chaos surrounding them, managed to fall in love and endure everything happening until the bitter end. I illustrated what I saw and formatted it to be a CD booklet for the actual song.

part of a Ross shopping cart after it got blasted by a train. Found by my house, splattered across the tracks. It made me wonder if the conductor had even really seen the cart on the tracks before he hit it so I drew the object itself but without actually looking at the paper until it was too late. Damage done. The color was such a beautiful vibrant blue when I found it, it seemed like the cart was left bleeding it's beautiful blue all over the tracks. I tried to mimic the cart bleeding by bleeding the color in the drawing.

Bottle cap I discovered in-between an oddly ritualistic circle of plastic deer. I hope I didn't steal their offering. It made me think of how some people say toys come to life when you turn your back and freeze when you try to watch them. I envisioned the circle of deer coming to life and worshipping some strange relic. Now that I'm watching they have frozen and will stay like this for as long as someone is looking.

Same bottle cap, I just think it looks better in color.

Pocket-watch found under my porch, cleaned it up. Still works. Someone must have left it. When holding this object it made me think about who held it before me, who they were, who gave it to them, what it meant to them, how they lost it. Since I found it under the house I thought possibly it had belonged to one of the former residents. I thought of who possibly owned it and their emotions and memories attached to this simple watch and drew what I thought might have happened.

caution tape I found tied around a sign on my street.

Two guitar picks found one in the grass and the other in the dirt. It seemed a shame to let perfectly good picks go to waste so I decided to play and record a song using the picks I found then take a few of my own picks and scatter them about the city so others could find them and use them to play their own songs whatever they be and perhaps unbeknownst to the finder, pass on a little bit of myself into their music.

Ancient-looking rusty tin can I hesitated in picking up somewhere in the woods. Held it in two fingers all the way home for fear of diseases. Possibly a hobo's. Since at least once a week you ask us to take a project on a date, I started to view this object as if it were a person. I felt as though this found object had the most character of all the objects gathered so I went the next step and gave it a life. It's an old and rusted can, used up and dried out. It made me think of a weathered old cowboy or vagabond eating food out of a tin, and what kind of person they were. I wanted to capture the tin's essence and personality into a portrait.

Same disease bucket.

Flimsy plastic tow sign found hidden in the forest.
No vehicles around. Or parking.
Or illegal parking for that matter.
